What is Duplicate Content and Why Doesn't it Affect Locafy Pages?

Where there are multiple versions of a page indexed, it’s difficult for search engines to decide what page to show for a relevant search query. How does Locafy avoid this?

Search engines aim to provide users with the best experience possible, which means they will rarely show duplicate pieces of content. Instead, they will be forced to choose what version they feel is the best fit for that query.

Duplicate content is not against google’s guidelines.

It only affects ranking because when you have two pages that are considered duplicate, Google will choose only one to show up. They consider that chosen page as the most relevant to the search term.

Why Doesn't Duplicate Content Affect Locafy Landing Pages?

Because Locafy’s Landing Pages each have their own unique URL and heading that include the keyword and location, when the keyword is searched in the specific location in the headline, Google will deem that as the most relevant out of the duplicate pages, causing it to show in the Google search results.

So the two main things to keep in mind when asked about duplicate content is that we use:

- Specific URLs
- Specific Long Tail search terms

So rest assured that our landing pages conform to Google's guidelines and we ensure that it is not considered as duplicate content.
