How do I choose the correct locations for my Proximity Pages so I don't create duplicate content?

There have been questions regarding duplicate information amongst locations and whether or not the repeated use of a location’s name in various contexts was considered duplicate content, this is why it is not considered duplicate content

Firstly, it is important to note if a location is an individual city or a neighbourhood within a city. We would approach each differently. If individual cities share aspects of the same name, there is very little we can do. An example of this could be Kansas City, Missouri and Kansas City, Kansas. This is one metropolitan area that is split administratively between two states. Therefore, these are separate cities though they connect.

In the event that neightbourhoods share the same name, this is where we have the freedom to be more discerning. For example, within Toronto, there are neighbourhoods like “Old Toronto”, “North Toronto”, “York”, “North York”, “East York” and “York Mills”. In this case, other locations like “Kensington Market” and “Cabbagetown” should be used in preference to locations with repeating place names.

And, obviously, we do not outright repeat the same place name more than once in the locations section.

Hopefully that puts your mind at ease but if you are not sure of any of the above, we are always here to answer any queries you may have, so If you do have any questions or concerns, please contact your account manager or contact your support team at support@locafy.com
