A duplicate GBP is not only painful but it will play havoc with your marketing efforts.
Some times an old GBP business listing that has outdated or incorrect information will confuse Google as differing information will render both GBPs almost useless unless users are looking for you directly. How can you make sure that this does not happen to you, the guide below will help you identify and neutralise a potentially damaging duplicate.
- Go to Google and search for the business name
- If the results, particularly if it is in the knowledge panel, do not match the listing you manage, this is a duplication
- Search for your registered business address, if it triggers a map panel, check if any are duplicates
- If your business has moved locations or had an old business name, please search again using the above steps
- Search for your business name and your locality in the maps search bar, zoom out slightly to see if there are any duplicate listings
